Fall Book Club
For Returning Book Club Members:
Welcome back Eba and Rosemarie,
I hope you're looking forward as I am to our new selection, How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents. Remember how confused we were when we first started blogging, before we got the hang of it? So let's all lend a hand to our newest members: Lucknise, Isabel Z, Isabel O, and Philomene.
For New Book Club Members:
Welcome newest members,
I'm so glad you're joining us. I think books are the most fun when they are shared with others. We're also going to get experiment with a new computer technology called "blogging". As I mentioned earlier, blogging is like writing in a journal or diary except that you write it on-line where anyone can read your work and write comments back to you. At this point, you should have set up your own blogs and introduced yourselves to your fellow book club members as well as the world!
To All Members:
Your blogs will be your responses to the questions I give you. First refer to my blog(Linda's Blog) to find the questions. Answer at least one question, but you may answer as many as you like. For each question you answer you make a different post. In the title section of your post write the question you're responding to.
Let's try to read all the posts of our fellow members. While you should not respond directly to my blog(you only use my blog to see the questions), you want to respond directly on the blogs of other members. Look for the "Comments" section at the bottom of their posts. Then once you finish writing and editing your comments, you then click on "Publish your Comment". A word of caution, once you publish a comment you can't take it back, so make sure it is what you want to say. So let's all read, discuss, and share ideas. Enjoy!
First questions:
1) What interested you in our latest book selection, How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents"?
2)Now that you have read the first chapter, does this book seem similar or different from what you expected? Explain.

Some Questions for You to Think and Write About
Hi Clubbers,
Now that we've gotten back into the book, here are a few questions for you to mull over and write about in your post. Remember, you don't have to write about each question. You can write whatever your thoughts are, as long as they pertain to the book in some way. Have fun and remember to comment on each other's blogs.
1)For the newcomers to our book club, summarize what we have read in the book so far.
2)How do you thinks Ka's feelings for her parents changed after the secret was revealed?
3)Regarding the husband and wife who were separated for seven years, can you relate to the experience of the wife coming to this country for the first time? What was it like for you when you first came to this country?
4)Do you think love can survive a separation of seven years? Why or why not?

Greetings from Linda
Hi, my name is Linda and I'm a GED teacher. I'm very excited as this is the first blog for me and many of my students. Right now we're reading a book by the Haitian author Edwidge Danticat called The Dew Breaker. We just finished the part where the main character's father revealed a secret to her from his past. That secret changed everything she ever thought about her father. We will continue this week.
